International Institute of Schema Therapy

International Institute of Schema Therapy

“We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.”, Seneca

The International Institute of Schema Therapy was founded in Ukraine for Ukrainians who have been dispersed around the world by the war.
We bring together psychologists and psychotherapists in a shared professional community, regardless of the country they live in.
Today, Schema Therapy is especially relevant for working with trauma, loss, and chronic stress.
Our goal is to provide access to international training, professional support, and a strong community, so that every Ukrainian can feel that they are not alone and that we stand together.

The International Institute of Schema Therapy was founded in Ukraine in response to the reality that Ukrainians are living in today.

Because of the war, millions of our fellow Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes. Ukrainians have been scattered across the world — living in different countries, speaking different languages, and adapting to different systems — yet sharing a common experience of loss, separation, and forced adaptation.

In this reality, it is especially important not to lose the sense of belonging, professional community, and connection with one another.

Our Institute was created for exactly this purpose.

We aim to bring together Ukrainian psychologists and psychotherapists, wherever they are now, in a shared professional space of Schema Therapy — a space that offers structure, support, international training standards, and the feeling that you are not alone.
Schema Therapy is especially relevant today. It addresses the deep impact of traumatic experiences, loss, chronic stress, and unmet core emotional needs — challenges that Ukrainians face every day because of the war and forced displacement. It is an approach that combines scientific evidence, emotional depth, and humanity.
We offer international training in Individual Schema Therapy for Ukrainians, so that every professional, regardless of where they live, can have access to high-quality education, professional development, and a community of like-minded colleagues.
Our idea is simple, but deeply important:
Ukraine must stay united — even when we are physically far from one another.
